Power Plant & Renewal Energy

Minconsult holds a number of noteworthy achievements with the Power Plant & Renewable Energy Division.  Its involvement as one of the auditing partners for two consecutive Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Management and Engineering Audits (2001-2004 & 2005-2008) contributed to the evolution of the utility electricity industry framework for the Country.  It was the consultant of choice for the implementation of the first independent power utility project (involving generation, transmission and distribution facilities) for the Northern Utility Resources/Kulim Hi-Tech Park.  The Company has also gone on to demonstrate remarkable expertise and knowledge with its work in power transmission line computer-aided modelling and design for existing transmission line re-rating upgrading works in Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico and the US, as well as for new lines tower spotting using the LIDAR Survey and PLS-CADD software.

Minconsult's distinguished portfolio also includes its work as Owner Engineer for the Teluk Salut (Sabah) combined-cycle power plant project; the Bangladesh Khulna and Sirajganj gas-turbine peaking/combined cycle power plant projects; and the Sarawak-Peninsular Malaysia HVDC Engineering Feasibility Transmission Link Project; which would have been the longest submarine power cable project upon implementation.  

In the field of renewable energy, Minconsult is among the first to implement Feed-In-Tariff (FiT) Solar Photo-Voltaic projects totalling about 10MW in Malaysia, including the biggest roof-top building integrated photovoltaic project in the ASEAN Region.  Active in the hydro field, the Company has also undertaken hydro potential studies for Sabah and Selangor.

Two notable power system studies undertaken by the Company were the Electricity Blueprint for Iskandar Malaysia; and the Power System Study Klang Valley Electrified Double Track for Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTMB).
