Detail Narrative Description of Project
A study conducted for the road network of Peninsular Malaysia to recommend the maximum axle loading and vehicle dimensions which can safely be used on the existing road network and to make recommendations for the axle loading for design of future roads and highways, including recommendations on the strengthening of pavements.
Detail Description of Actual Services
The scope of work included the following:
reviewing the effect on existing pavements and bridges of increasing weight limits
determining the optimum axle load, vehicle dimensions and related gross vehicle weights in relation to design standards;
recommending a programme for strengthening pavements and bridges and prematurely failed roads
recommending modifications to legislation and enforcement practice; and
investigating and recommending remedial and preventive measures for prematurely failed roads.
