Detail Narrative Description of Project
The Kuantan Kerteh Railway Project was to construct a meter gauge railway track of total length 75 km between Kuantan Port and Kerteh Industrial Complex with a branch line of 4 km serving Gebeng Industrial Area. The project involved the construction of the railway track, bridges, grade separated crossings, multi-modal facilities, rolling stock, railway yards, radio communication system, signalling system, maintenance workshops and equipment and administrative buildings. The PETRONAS appointed Canarail in association with Minconsult Sdn. Bhd. to undertake a feasibility study on the proposed rail project.


Detail Description of Actual Services

  • Investigating the technical and economic feasibility of the proposed rail project and thereafter to recommend a preferred alignment.
  • Assessing the environmental and social impacts of the rail project and adopting the environmental criteria in the selection of the preferred alignment.
  • Undertaking Land Use Studies, Traffic Studies, Social Impact Studies, Environmental Assessment Studies and Railway Facility Studies.
  • Preliminary Engineering Investigations and Designs.
  • Cost Estimates, Economic Evaluations and Financial Analysis.
