Detail Narrative Description of Project
In order to improve the existing public transport infrastructure in the Kuala Lumpur conurbation, SPNB commissioned a feasibility study to evaluate possible alignments for a new LRT line to serve the suburbs of Cheras and Damansara and the Central Business District of Kuala Lumpur. The new line is to have adequate transfer with the existing transit systems to enhance the overall public transport network.

Detail Description of Actual Services

  • Proposing several alternative alignment routes and evaluating suitability of each
  • Carrying out airborne laser and digital imagery survey of alternative alignments to obtain topographic and as built data
  • Meeting stakeholders such as developers, authorities, general public, utility companies, highway operators and other public transport operators to understand their needs and reservations.
  • Carrying out underground utility detection and soil investigation
  • Preliminary engineering for foundations, elevated guideways, tunnels, stations, LRT systems, power distribution, signalling, control systems, building services, drainage and utilities relocation.
  • Environmental baseline monitoring
  • Socio-economic survey
  • Cost estimation of each alternative alignment
  • Economic evaluation based using cost estimates and ridership projections
