Detail Narrative Description of Project
The newly established Plateau State covers some 50,000 sq.km in central Nigeria. Made up of 3 distinct areas - Jos Plateau, plains of Benue Valley and Jemas Platform. A comprehensive regional planning study, it aimed to confront rural poverty, highly inequitable distribution of resources and high rural-urban migration, among a range of economic and social problems.
Detail Description of Actual Services
Carried out in association with Shankland Cox Partnership, UK, the range of services included among others:
- Extensive field work and research due to grossly inadequate data resources.
- Resettlement and revitalisation programme of the rural sectors.
- Recommendation of an administrative machinery towards effective and efficient implementation.
