Detail Narrative Description of Project
The proposed East-West Highway, Western Section, connects the western end of the existing East-West Highway at Kg. Bahru Kuala Rui, Grik in Perak to the proposed Kulim Butterworth Highway near Titi Karangan.  The length of the road is approximately 80 km.  The proposed road generally traverses rolling to mountainous terrain with ground slopes of more than 20 percent. The route passes mainly through virgin jungle and rubber estates

Detail Description of Actual Services
Civil and structural services included:

  • Site investigation
  • Preliminary planning and design
  • Detailed engineering design and preparation of land acquisition plans
  • Tender documentation and evaluation of bids

Work Highlights

  • Climbing lanes introduced at locations where the grade length exceeds the critical grade length
  • 17 nos. of R.C. bridges with lengths that vary from 40 m to 250m.
  • Rock qualities of one million cubic metres
  • Retaining wall of 12,500 square metres surface area
  • Route location and topographic survey
  • Traffic study
